The Art & Poetry project brings together digital artists and the vivid verses of renowned Neapolitan poet Carmen Auletta. Her work captures not only the city of her birth but also the universal themes of love and memory, childhood and death.

COSE NOVE

Ll’uocchie poso ‘ncopp’ a sta rena ‘nfosa,
me ‘ncanta ‘o mare ca  sempe va e vene,
trasporta cose scavanno pertose
pure a stu core ca nun po’ fa bene.

E comme a ll’onna ca s’aggrappa  ‘a rena
e vene  trascinata ancora a  mare,
songh’io ca  ‘ncatenata a chesta pena ,
cerco ‘e truvà penzieri  meno amari.

So’ ccose nove ca contano ll’onne,
‘o mare ‘e ddice doppo na tempesta,
ca mò sereno  me sceta a stu suonno
purtanneme nu poco d’aria ‘e festa.

Art and Poetry, Cose Nove installation was premiered

at Atlantide Art Exhibitions on December 12, 2011.

Seking a universal aspect of the poem Aequitas explored the moment of apprehension. The lonely poet awaits inspiration.
With patience and determination the the poet waits as phrases begin to travel down the path from the future to the past. It's up to the poet to apprehend them.
The book comes to life with a moving image of the poem washing up on shore and returning to the sea in waves, another opportunity for the poet to apprehend a poem.

I pass my gaze over the wet sand

Absorbed by the sea that comes and goes

Carrying things that burrow holes

Drilling into this heart, and that does no good.

Like the waves that get hold of the sand

And get carried back out to sea

So am I, chained to this great pain

In search of less bitter thoughts.

A handy net awaits, it's use? To capture phrases from the air.

The waves tell of new things

The sea speaks of them after the storm

And now it's calm, it wakes me with its sound

Bringing me a little bit of party in the  breeze
